so this is the new year...

 {i have recently fallen in love with selfies. so guilty. i don't really post them anywhere, but i think they're a great way to track my moods, inspirations, or even just my lipsticks ;) anyway. this was my last one of 2014, woohoo! it feels significant, kinda.}

and, no offense to ben gibbard, i do feel different. as you know...it's 2015! all i can really think about at this moment is how thin the walls in my (yes, my very very own) apartment feel right now. but...besides that, i'm welcoming 2015 with a huge hug.

last year was change and lots of it. good change, really good change, expensive change, and heartbreaking change. i've never felt so much like a child and an adult at the same time. my goals for the new year are simple goals, but goals* nonetheless.

mostly, i want to make 2015 a full year. full of light, full of dixie, full of mistakes, full of books, full of coffee, full of writing, full of plans, full of naps, full of moons. simply full.

*spoiler alert: one of my goals is to tend to my writing more, even if it is just here on this lil' ol' blog.

déjà vu.

 {image source watercreek.tumblr.com}

this is sort of the way my life is feeling right about now {déjà vu, not like a dream catcher rv park}. i'm sure it has something to do with me not being an adult and taking steps into positive and responsible directions...or maybe it's not my fault, right? right. anyway. it's a tiny bit scary, being in this strange, repetitious phase of life. satisfying yet unsatisfying all at once, and almost dream like. it's almost as if i've stepped away and just zoned out a little too long, you know?

before this gets too new age...

the real point of this post is to put some sweet little tunes together. i've been loving old music {ok, that's nothing too new} a lot lately, particularly older country. is alabama even considered old yet? reagardless of the vintage-ness of these songs, they seem more than perfect for the warm days that are already making up these texas weeks.

here ya go, have a listen:

sleep in a teepee, check.

last week, cameron and i took a trip to marfa. you've probably heard of it. in fact, you've probably even been there. i feel like we are some of the last people to place our boot soles on marfa soil, but we sure did have an awesome time. we stayed at el cosmico in a teepee (!!!). it was so primitive...minus the whole electric outlet/mattress thing. fine. sleeping in a furnished teepee wasn't exactly roughing it. still, i'm an indoor plumbing kind of gal so it was a challenge in its own way. anyway. we had a blast exploring the little town of marfa on a couple of rented bikes. marfa was the epitome of a west texas town; it had lots of stars, dust, and charm.

{teepee top}
 {cruisin' to get some grub}
 {serious bike skills^^}

we did run into some issues finding places to eat...almost everything was closed! i guess monday isn't marfa's best day. we were so excited to finally come across a place called future shark. the food was great and the lounge had a neat atmosphere.

 {future shark/sugar-filled drinks to the rescue!}

{i was obsessed with how much sky showed up in every photo.}
 {...did i mention my boyfriend does senior portraits? ;) just kidding.}
{catch ya later, teepee! and bright, bright sun...}

i had such a great time in marfa. we spent our second day exploring terlingua and big bend, which i will post about as soon as i can find time to break away from my current obsession with bates motel. geez, i forget how addicting television shows can be. {*cough* true detective *cough*} i really want all of these great shows to get out of my way so that i can go camping. i got a little sleeping-under-the-stars itch out west.

oh, and if these pictures don't look like they were taken with an iPhone, it's because they weren't taken with an iPhone! i finally caved and splurged on a camera and i simply love it so far ;)

quarter life advice.

{food for thought, eh?}

in case you haven't heard...i turned 25 very recently! and this is what i'm taking as my most helpful advice so far. you should take it, too.

it's friday, i'm in love.

just kidding! it isn't friday, unfortunately. however, i am in love...and i have to admit, that is a little bit cooler than a friday.

{we may or may not have had a giant fight that morning...}

p.s.-target does not play around when they develop photos! we were surrounded by the greenest grass ever.

p.s.s.-i need a haircut like yesterday.

little things...

that have made my days better lately.

{having this little girl around. i really don't know how i got by so long without her.}

{when someone at starbucks takes the time to spell your name right, and then proceeds to add a happy heart.}

{my grandma lifting my spirits in unimaginable ways today.}

{ridiculously cute socks with foxes that cameron bought/put on immediately. that boy is the silliest.}

{looking up and realizing how much bigger things are up there than they are down here.}
*taken on my flight from arizona to texas.

desert days, part II.

 {kaci soaking up some sun by the pool.}

i decided i should devote an entire post to the beauty and coolness that is the saguaro . holy guacamole, this place was so neat! everything was so bright and alive. walls were covered in neon paint and every room door was a different color. the lobby had huge, warhol-esque paintings. we only stayed there for one night, but i would like to think we milked that place for everything it offered. we ate at the hotel's restaurant, distrito, and knew the rest of the hotel would be great based on the breakfast burritos alone. i liked staying there because old town was within walking distance, which was a nice change from taking a hotel shuttle everywhere. it was simply paradise. ok, one thing that wasn't so great was my attempt to get back on a bike. the saguaro had bikes that you could ride around town on {see? awesome hotel.} so kaci and i tried that out. i'm positive i almost had a heart attack. but hey, i got the hang of it again! sort of. making turns really isn't my thing. but hey, now i want a bike, so that's something.

 {smiling on the outside, stressing out immensely on the inside.}

my favorite, favorite thing about the saguaro {you can ask my sister, i wouldn't shut up about it} was the pool because at night...music played underwater! what?! maybe i'm small town and easily impressed, or maybe it was just the coolest thing ever. we discovered it when we decided to take a night swim {bacon sizzling heat, remember?} and when i dipped my head under it was an underwater concert. ah-maz-ing.

 {simultaneously swimming and jamming out.}

 we loved the saguaro. i hope we go back someday, even if only to finish our giant connect four game, ha!

{one of our only non-selfies. thank you, kind employee of the saguaro. and thank you for not laughing at us.}
